Monica digs into the world of DJing and break dancing with DJ and b-boy Nathaniel Hawkins, aka DeeJay Panic. They talk about how he got into playing music, how he gave it up when he found breaking and how that led him to wanting to be a DJ. They talk about diggin’ in the crates for samples, hip hop culture and community, analog vs digital, and he shares his advice for anyone interested in DJing. They also discuss making good musical decisions, the importance of being able to read a room, creative outlets when you find yourself limited, and how important it is to keep learning.

I don’t make sets. I dance the way I DJ and I DJ the way I dance.
